Local cases of COVID continue to trend down in Taiwan. The CECC reported 32,567 new local infections on Sunday, a drop of 2,000 from Saturday. The death toll, at 88, had also fallen by 8 from the previous day.

Despite the decline, Taiwan still has border controls in place that limit overseas arrivals to 25,000 a week. The measures have only been in effect for the past two weeks. According to the transportation ministry, quarantine hotels and taxis can handle at least 40,000 people a week. The CECC says a report on the impact of the current border control measures will be released this week, and that the feasibility of further relaxing restrictions will soon be discussed.
