The weather today was mostly fair around the island as the northeast monsoon weakened. The balmy weather will last through Tuesday before the arrival of another front, according to the Central Weather Bureau. Meanwhile, a tropical disturbance south of Guam is expected to form a low-pressure area and become the year''s second typhoon around next Sunday. But whether it will alleviate Taiwan''s current''s drought is still too early to say.
With the weakening of northeast monsoon, the entire island had fair weather on Sunday with temperatures reaching close to 30 degrees. However, after nightfall on Tuesday, wet and cool weather will once again return to northern Taiwan, sending the mercury down to as low as 16 degrees.

The next change in the weather will start from the evening of Tuesday to Wednesday. During this period, a weather front will pass to the north of the island, and the northeast monsoon will strengthen. The northern and eastern regions, as well as the mountainous areas in the central and southern regions, will likely see rain.
Many are also speculating whether the low-pressure area over the waters south of Guam will become the second typhoon of the year.

Regarding this low-pressure system, our forecasting model still can’t determine its development, or even its strength or path. From what we can see from the current data, we may have to wait until the middle or the end of the week, in other words, after Wednesday or Thursday, for the system to be more fully developed.
The CWB says that the system’s development remains uncertain, and that it’s still too early to expect that it will relieve the current drought.
