There are more than 10,200 feeder lines across the country. Taoyuan District alone accounts for more than 1,100, so they have quite a large number of lines, and the frequency of equipment failure is likely to increase. Actually, these outages are all due to malfunction at the power distribution end. So as soon as the source of equipment failure or external interference is eliminated, the power gets restored right away.

Taipower stressed that the power outages were not due to a power shortage, and that electricity distribution accidents and power shortages are two different things and should not be confused. As for having caused inconvenience to the public, Taipower said it would strengthen reviews and line inspections, and hoped that those with an agenda would stop muddling the issue.
