The customers at an all-you-can-eat buffet were treated to a dinner-and-show spectacle starring a sewer rat. The incident happened on Sunday evening in Kaohsiung. The rat wreaked chaos as soon as it showed up in the dining area, setting off a mad chase by members of staff. Some suspect that the recent pest-control measures at the department store pushed the rat to make its public appearance. Let’s hear more.

The rat ran to the emergency exit at the back, where it was caught and later killed. After the dining service last night, we will strengthen our disinfection and hygiene measures. None of the diners felt unwell or felt that the matter was not resolved properly.

A diner reports that she was chowing down her food when the rat crawled past for the first time. What’s worse is that the rodent decided to make a second pass, practically touching her feet. Staff members rushed to corner the rat, in a scene fitting of a high-stakes action movie. Health authorities say they will inspect the premises to find any rule breaches, while the restaurant says it has expanded it pest-control measures.
