The Presidential Office on Tuesday evening held a press conference on the matter. Secretary-General Pan Men-an said that several countries on the route to Africa had abruptly canceled their overflight permits, leaving no viable path forward for the presidential aircraft. After a careful assessment by Taiwan’s national security team, the trip has been postponed.Pan said, that according to sources, Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar revoked overflight permissions for the aircraft without prior notice. He said the cause was strong pressure and economic coercion from China. During the press conference he underscored that the ROC Taiwan is a sovereign nation with a place in the world, and strongly condemned Beijing’s “crude” actions.
