After Saturday night’s heavy rainfall in Northern Taiwan, precipitation gradually let up early Sunday morning. The good news is you can put away your rain gear for now. With the weakening of the northeast monsoon, the weather will slowly warm up, but beware of large temperature swings between daytime and nighttime. The low temperatures could dip down to as low as 10 degrees in the northern regions. Let’s hear from the Central Weather Administration.

Chen Pei-an
Forecaster, CWA
The high temperatures will rise significantly, but beware of lows in the early morning. This is due to the radiative cooling effect, which will be especially felt in areas north of Central Taiwan and the northeastern regions. The lows there will be around 12 to 14 degrees. Mountainous areas around Hsinchu and Miaoli will likely see lows of around 11 degrees. The temperature swing between day and night will be the greatest tomorrow. As for precipitation, the moisture around Taiwan proper has mostly dissipated, but there will still be some brief, scattered showers in Hualien, Taitung, and the mountainous areas in Central and Southern Taiwan. Before Thursday, rainfall will mainly occur in the eastern half of the island, in the form of brief, scattered showers.

Starting Friday, moisture will increase. Even though the mercury won’t drop significantly, people in mountainous regions in Central and Southern Taiwan should watch out for heavy rainfall.
