A car salesperson was driving through Yongjing Township in Changhua County when a goat suddenly crossed the road, forcing her to slam on the brakes. She later posted online, saying the goat nearly caused an accident. It turns out someone close by raises goats, but they’re only let out of their enclosure to graze occasionally. One goat apparently took the opportunity to wander onto the road.

Locals are used to seeing goats here in Changhua County’s Yongjing Township, but they might be endangered by passing vehicles. This particular goat came from a small farm nearby that raises chickens as well—a normal part of rural life in Changhua.

- Do you worry that they’ll go onto the road?
- Is it a big problem?
- Yeah, that’s why I keep them in there, because they tend to go to the road.

The owner usually keeps the goats fenced in so they stay off the road. But when they were out grazing, one wandered off and nearly caused an accident.

The goat is believed to belong to a nearby resident and had escaped its enclosure, running along the Jiufen Road section in Yongjing Township and nearly colliding with a passing vehicle.

Police warned that owners who allow animals to roam on the road can be fined NT$300 to NT$600 and may face criminal liability if the animal causes an accident, urging people to properly care for their animals.
