A massive blaze in the dead of night ravaged through a temple at the Keelung Fruit and Vegetable Market. The religious site honors the Earth God, and is visited by worshippers every day. The fire started on Sunday at night, setting the temple and a warehouse aflame. Firefighters rushed to the scene and put out the inferno in 20 minutes. Fortunately nobody was hurt. But it remains a mystery how the fire started. Let’s hear some theories.

Saw the blaze
The boxes behind the incense burner caught fire. When police took a look they said it wasn’t lit by anyone.

Sells at market
I’m guessing it might be a short circuit. Rats might have chewed on the wires and set the insulation on fire.

The temple behind the fruit and vegetable market was ravaged by flames and is now a charred ruin. The altar and everything inside has been destroyed. Usually there are no fires lit inside the temple, and the incense burner is outside. It’s a possibility that the fire started outside.

All the vendors at the market had long packed up for the day at the time that the fire started. Staff at the temple were also out, conducting rites elsewhere. Some vendors suspect that the blaze may have started due to a short-circuit caused by rats biting on electrical cables. The fire brigade is investigating the source of the fire. It reminds the public to make sure to do proper maintenance on electrical systems to avoid a tragedy.
