After closing in 2021 for repairs after a landslide, Taiwan Railway’s Jiji Line has reopened more than two months ahead of schedule. On Thursday morning, an opening ceremony was held, attended by Taiwan Railway and government officials, including the president and transport minister.

The train servicing the reopened line also has eye-catching new livery. Featuring colorful local elements, it’s become a social media sensation. Many passengers flocked to the station to be the first to take the special train. The over -29.7km-long Jiji line connects seven stations between Changhua’s Ershui Township and Nantou’s Jiji Township.
