The Taipei Dome will be hosting its first-ever professional league basketball game this Saturday. The inaugural match will be a face-off between the New Taipei CTBC DEA and the Taipei Taishin Mars of the T1 League. On Friday afternoon, the players had a look at the installations and played on the court to get familiar with the venue. They say they are very excited to be playing in the new stadium this weekend. Let’s hear from them.

Hsieh Ya-hsuan
New Taipei CTBC DEA player
I was really stunned when I stepped in. I’ve never been in such a large stadium before. We’re going to be playing basketball on a court that’s been set on a baseball field. I’m very excited.

Tseng Wen-ting
New Taipei CTBC DEA player
I want to enjoy these two days, the whole 48 minutes of each game. They let us play here, so of course we’re going to come.

Liu Chih-wei
New Taipei CTBC DEA general manager
Of course the prep work took a lot of time. We hope that once the games start, basketball fans from all over can come together to witness this debut of Taiwan basketball at the Taipei Dome.

Everything from the floor of the court to the hoops at Taipei Dome were relocated from Xinzhuang Gymnasium piece by piece. According to the coach of the New Taipei CTBC DEA, the move cost more than NT$10 million, and required the labor of 300 people.
