A perfect opportunity for theft presented itself at a night market in Hualien, when a man surnamed Wang and his brother got out of their car to get some snacks and left the engine running. A man got in the car and was ready to drive off. But fortunately, Mr. Wang kept an eye on his car and saw what the man was up to. He dashed over and went into the car from the other side and took away the car key, and then locked the thief inside, until the police arrived.
The man appeared to be getting something from the car, but somehow ended up in handcuffs. Or was that really the case? Apparently, the car didn’t belong to him.
- I noticed him looking at my car and slowly walking over, so I sprinted over here.
The man went into the car after the owner went away shortly and left the key inside. Fortunately, the owner noticed the intruder, so the suspect wasn’t able to drive off.
Mr. Wang, the car owner, drove his older brother to the night market for snacks. They got off the car, but left the key inside and the engine still running. The suspect noticed and sneaked inside. Fortunately, Mr. Wang noticed what was up, and quickly took the front passenger seat and pulled out the key. Then, the two brothers stood on both sides to prevent him from escaping, and called the police.

We rushed to the scene as soon as we received the report, and arrested the suspect. The man was transferred to the Hualien District Prosecutors Office for investigation on suspicion of theft, and his detention was approved.
The suspect likely thought it would be easy to drive off with Mr. Wang’s car, but ended up being an easy catch for the police.
