The founder of the Tang Prize, billionaire Samuel Yin has passed away at the age of 75 at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning. His company, Ruentex Financial Group, says that funeral arrangements will be kept simple, without a public memorial service. Let’s hear more.

Our chairman passed away shortly after 4 a.m. at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. To honor his wishes, his family is keeping the funeral arrangements simple.
Yin lived a dramatic life. In his youth, he was known for a rebellious and hot-tempered personality and even spent time in juvenile detention. His life later took a major turn after meeting mentor Wang Jin-pyng. In the business world, Yin built a sprawling empire and was once worth as much as US$3.8 billion, ranking among the world’s top 500 richest individuals. Under his leadership, the group expanded across construction, textiles, retail, finance, and biotechnology. In his later years, concerns about his health surfaced after multiple falls. Now, with his passing, a legendary life has come to an end.
