A shuttle bus plunged off a cliff in a recreation area in Nantou on Monday, killing one person and injuring seven others. All seven passengers on the bus were from Changhua who were visiting the Sun Link Sea Forest Recreation Area. The deceased was a 66-year-old man surnamed Chen, who was on a trip with his wife, who suffered light injuries. The remaining five were siblings, who emerged from the crash with injuries of varying severity. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

A crane pulls out the bus from the slope in the dark. Hours later on Wednesday morning, forensic personnel and road safety officials arrived to inspect the scene.

Whether there were any mechanical problems with the vehicle will be determined with an investigation by the police.

The driver of the bus was not working overtime and tested negative for alcohol. The bus, however, did not have a number plate.

The bus is always circulating within roads closed off from traffic within the resort, so there is no need for it to have a number plate. The driver had worked at Yuan Lin Bus for almost 20 years. He’s been at the resort for about a year.

The crash left one dead and seven injured. The deceased was a 66-year-old man surnamed Chen. He was on a trip with his wife, who survived with light injuries. The couple was very close and they often went hiking at the resort. Friends and relatives were shocked to hear the news of Mr. Chen’s passing.

They had such a good relationship, and they were good people and raised their children well. Their family is so close-knit.

The other five passengers injured are a set of five siblings who often travel together. The eldest sister is still recovering from the shock.

The bus swerved and sped downhill. We were going so fast. The bus couldn’t brake in time, so we crashed through the fence and plunged down the slope.

The youngest brother of the five has the most severe injuries, including broken ribs and a liver laceration. He’s under observation at the intensive care unit at Changhua Christian Hospital.

I hope the hospital will take care of our brother.

With the cherry trees in full bloom, many visitors are making their way to the mountain. But due to the accident, bus services have been suspended while an investigation is underway.
