Chiang Wan-an
Taipei Mayor
We are thrilled that Nvidia’s first overseas headquarters will be established at the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park. Taipei will be Nvidia’s home. The surface rights are set for 50 years, extendable by 20 years, with a rights premium of NT$12.2 billion. The signing parties are the Taipei City Government and Nvidia Taiwan Holdings. Initially, when Nvidia was considering what entity it would sign the contract with, the options included their companies in Singapore, Hong Kong and the British Virgin Islands. In the end, I managed to get Nvidia to pick Taipei.

Nvidia is expected to invest more than NT$40 billion in the HQ, creating more than 10,000 jobs. Construction is set to begin as early as June. As for speculation on whether a second headquarters will be established, the mayor said that no information on the matter has been disclosed yet. He said that, should Nvidia decide to set up a second HQ, the Taipei City Government will once again provide its full assistance.
