It’s been so scorching hot in Taiwan, that even a shop window in Pingtung couldn’t take it anymore and exploded in its frame in Pingtung. The recent days with highs of 38°C have made many people turn the aircon to extra-cool when they are indoors. But at a clothing store in Pingtung, it seems that the temperature difference between inside and outside was too much for the shopfront window to handle, causing it to smash into a million pieces. The loud bang gave the shopkeeper a fright, but fortunately nobody was hurt. Let’s hear more.

It just cracked and the glass started falling down. It’s been so hot this year. It’s been unbearable since April.

When the tempered glass was installed, there were probably some areas that were already under considerable stress. The large temperature difference was the last straw.

The window burst, leaving a large crack, shards on the floor, and a spiderweb pattern on the parts that remained on the frame. The random explosion damaged shoes that were displayed near the window. Passersby saw the broken display and assumed that the shop was getting vandalized and rushed to take photos. Cleaning the mess up was no easy task, and for now, the window has been covered with a plastic sheet to prevent anyone from getting injured.
