A dispute that had been festering since last month between a diner and a restaurant in Yingge, New Taipei ended in a muddy mess this past weekend. The story begins in December, when a man went to have a meal at a dumpling restaurant. After finishing his food, he went to the counter and refused to pay, saying that the food tasted bad. The restaurant staff decided to deal with the man by calling the police, but that only enraged him. His anger came to a boiling point on Sunday, when he returned to the restaurant with a bucket containing a brown liquid resembling sewage. He dashed inside and started splashing the contents of the pail everywhere, making a huge mess. Let’s hear more about the story.

This restaurant has been in business for seven or eight years. Locals say they’re doing well, and the food is good. Nobody was expecting such a dispute.

I come here every now and then to eat braised foods. The owner is very nice, and the service is good. I saw them washing the floor, but I thought they were just cleaning.

The liquid was found to be water mixed with mud. We’ve reviewed surveillance footage from the area and identified the vehicle and the suspects.

At first, the restaurant feared that the contents of the bucket included feces, which would have been revolting. But it turns out that the liquid was watery mud. The worst part is that the incident happened at dinner time. There were many customers dining inside the eatery, and so staff had to calm diners down and help them change seats. The suspect fled the scene shortly after dirtying the venue. Police officers said they have identified his vehicle and two suspects, and are now tracking them down and investigating the case in suspicion of criminal intimidation.
