An exciting fire dancing show became a horrifying moment for one of the performers in Taoyuan this past Saturday. The Coming True Fire Group was heating up a show for a temple parade at the Bade Arts Plaza when something went terribly wrong. One of the dancers appeared to slip on the wet ground, causing flames to leap to her costume, setting it ablaze. After a few agonizing seconds, the fire was put out and she was immediately sent to the hospital. Fortunately her life was not in danger, but she did get second-degree burns.

Doctors evaluated the dancer’s injuries. Thanks to our quick response, she wasn’t too badly hurt and can take care of the situation at home.

Department of Cultural Affairs
We at the Department of Cultural Affairs expressed our concern for the dancer immediately. We hope she recovers soon.

The Coming True Fire Dance Troupe is known internationally, and one of its members, Yang Li-wei aka Miss Antipode, even appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent,” performing a stunning foot-juggling show. Unfortunately, this time around, the group is grabbing headlines for the unfortunate accident in Taoyuan. But thankfully, it wasn’t worse, and the dancer is set to recover.
