The incident happened at around 9, bringing train services between Shulin and Yingge to a halt. It took four hours of emergency repairs to restore single-track two-way operations at 1 in the afternoon. The incident caused widespread disruptions to Taiwan’s railway network. Nearly all trains were delayed in both northbound and southbound directions. Some of the delays lasted almost 3 hours. The Taiwan Railway immediately arranged emergency bus shuttle services to keep travelers moving. The cause of the equipment damage is still being investigated.
