The Penghu Ferry has completed its maiden voyage. The brand-new boat replaces the Taihua Ferry, which ran the Penghu-Kaohsiung route for three decades. Carrying 268 passengers, the Penghu Ferry left the Port of Kaohsiung Wednesday night and arrived in Magong on Thursday.

The Penghu was made over two years by a Japanese shipbuilder. It measures 120 meters long and has a top speed of 22 knots. It can carry more than 600 passengers, as well as four buses and 82 passenger cars. A ceremony will be held to officially inaugurate the ferry next Tuesday.
