The DPP has announced a series of outreach events in May, to mark the second anniversary of the Lai administration. The Executive Yuan will head a series of policy forums to engage directly with local groups. The topics will range from industrial development, to agriculture and more. The first event will take place this Saturday in Kaohsiung, led by Vice Premier Cheng Li-chiun. Let’s hear more.

The first stop will be Kaohsiung. For Kaohsiung people, it’s something to look forward to. We’ve heard locals say that they hope the budget for procuring arms will be passed as soon as possible. They’ve also been talking a lot about the strong showing of Taiwan shares.

It’s a great thing, and it’s something that needs to be done. The administrative wants to accomplish many things, so it has to inform the public about the issues that matter to people’s lives, and the issues that the government is focusing on.

Government officials will engage directly with citizens and representatives from every industry. They say the priority is people’s livelihoods. But in the opposition, critics say that the tour is just a covert election campaign for the DPP, accusing the party of spending government money. The DPP responded that all event expenses will be paid by the party, adding that government officials will be participating in events outside of their working hours.
