Residents of Zhongxing New Village in Nantou County recently reported hearing Buddhist chants coming from several street corners, but there was not a soul in sight. The source of the sound turned out to be solar-powered speakers someone had placed by the roadside to broadcast Buddhist chanting 24/7.This street is deserted late at night, but a cyclist riding past heard something. There’s a faint sound of Buddhist chanting coming from the corner. No one is in sight, but the voice continued. The cyclist posted this video online, curious about who put these devices around town. The eerie voice in Nantou’s Zhongxing New Village could be found in the flower beds outside of Guangrong Elementary and the Zhongxing Post Office.A reporter went to investigate, finding that the sounds are coming from these red lotus-shaped speakers. Placed in flowerbeds and next to utility poles, the solar-powered speakers are able to play the chants on a loop 24/7. No wonder they could be heard day and night.ResidentSomeone mentioned there was a red thing over there, so I went to take a look, but didn’t know what it was.Police said they aren’t explicitly breaking any laws, and the city said there are currently no regulations governing this sort of activity. All they could do was advise against placing the speakers where they might scare people. For more Taiwan news, tune in:Mon to Fri at 9:30 pm on Channel 152Tue to Sat at 1 am on Channel 53#Buddhist #mantra #chanting #mysterysound #Nantou #speaker #eerie #creepy#台灣新聞 #TaiwanNews #民視新聞 #FTV新聞 #Taiwan
