Stock markets in Asia suffered widespread losses on Wednesday, and Taiwan was no exception. The Taiex fell by a whopping 1,494 points, in what some analysts are calling a "Dark Wednesday." The index dipped below the 33,000-point mark, recording the third-biggest single-session fall. TSMC shares shed NT$70, closing down at NT$1,865. Selling was the word of the day. Only 59 stocks closed higher, in contrast with 966 stocks that contracted. Trading volume soared to more than NT$1.57 trillion, marking the second highest figure ever for the Taiex. Over the past two days, more than 500,000 retail investors have entered the market in an attempt to buy the dip, in hopes that the plunge will stop and eventually rebound. For more Taiwan news, tune in:Mon to Fri at 9:30 pm on Channel 152Tue to Sat at 1 am on Channel 53#tsmc #shares #stockmarket #finance #taiex #taiwanshares#台灣新聞 #TaiwanNews #民視新聞 #FTV新聞 #Taiwan
