A one-of-a-kind stand that sells red bean cakes in Nantou’s Caotun Township has recently gone viral online. Rather than being pushed, this food stand is driven around. It’s made from a modified 50cc Yamaha motorcycle that was popular back in the 1980s. The owner has even set up a large umbrella to offer protection from the sun and rain.
It’s impossible not to notice its big red umbrella flapping in the wind as this food stand goes through an intersection.
This red bean cake stand in Nantou’s Caotun Township is not pushed, but driven around, umbrella and all. The owner says his stand was made from a 50cc motorcycle popular in the 1980s, the Yamaha Target. The umbrella protects the stand from the elements, but it can also be a traffic hazard.

Skeptic about legality

Police officer
Operating an assembled vehicle on the road without approval or proper registration is punishable with a fine from NT$3,600 to NT$36,000. Setting up a stand on the road without permission is punishable with a fine from NT$1,200 to NT$2,400.
Police said that driving a modified or assembled vehicle on the road without a license plate carries a fine of up to NT$36,000, and setting up a stand without authorization would result in an additional fine.
