過去，平溪區有著「煤鄉」之稱，因礦業而誕生的交通建設-平溪支線，更進一步帶動了沿線小鎮的發展從菁桐車站到煤礦紀念公園，跟著指標走只需要5分鐘的路程，這裡是平溪支線上最大的礦區遺址，其中石底大斜坑，是當時採煤作業很重要的建設，大大提升從礦井運送到外面的效率。雖然忙碌的礦業景象已不存在，但無論是走在遺跡或老街裡，沉浸在這懷舊氛圍中，有種讓人覺得正在體驗穿越劇。
傳統長條式的街屋，來到平溪老街，有著不一樣的懷舊風情，又因平溪區地形屬多山，加上長年受自然侵蝕，便形成許多懸崖峭壁的景觀。
孝子山海拔是360公尺，不是很高，能成為熱門景點的原因是，它最後要攻頂前，要爬一段將近90°的垂直岩壁，感覺很有挑戰性，希望我能成功登頂。亞藍：天啊，我攻頂了，從這山頂看出去的景色令人嘆為觀止，爬這一趟實在值得，我強烈推薦這個地方。

In the past, Pingxi District is also known as the ""Coal Township"". The mining industry led to the transportation infrastructure - Pingxi Line, which further promoted the development of many small towns along the train line. From Jingtong Station to this coal mine memorial park is only a five minute walk, you just need to follow the sign. This is the largest mine site in the Pingxi Line. Shi-Ti Slope Mine was a very important construction which helped to improve the transportation of the coal from the pit to the outside. Although the busy mining scene no longer exists; however, when walking through the ruins and the old streets. Being able to do something like this in this nostalgic setting feels like a scene from a time travel movie.
Seeing the traditional style of the townhouses when visiting Pingxi Old Street brings a very different experience.Because the Pingxi District is filled with mountains, along with the long-term natural erosion, which creating many cliffs.
The altitude of Xiaozi Mountain is 360 meters, not too high. And the reason why it is so popular is because before reaching the top There's an almost 90 degree steep cliff. It sounds super challenging, I hope I can successfully get to the top. Yalan: Oh my gosh, I did it! The view from the top of this mountain is just breathtaking. The treck was so worth it. I highly recommend this place.
