A downpour of clothes and underwear fell over a street in Taichung’s South District on Tuesday evening. It was indeed a rainy day, but the water falling from the sky was accompanied by items including tops, pants, and even bras and panties. That’s because a resident in an apartment building was having a bit of a mental breakdown, and decided to throw all her clothes out of the window and onto the people below. Let’s hear more.
Voice of witness
Saw the clothing downpour
I heard loud thumping sounds, bang, bang! Then something light and airy floated over. It was a bra! I was so startled! I just grabbed it and threw it aside.

I was shocked when I drove by in my car. There was a lot of rubbish on the road.

There were also cosmetics, some light fixtures and boxes. She threw all the random stuff in her home down. Four or five police cars arrived at the scene and went inside to get her out and into an ambulance.

Unrelated to incident
Throwing objects from a building can put the people below in danger. It’s a classic example of offenses against public safety. If there is self harm, or harm to others, restraining the person might be necessary to ensure their safety.
Police quickly arrived at the scene to find that the person throwing stuff out of the window was an underage girl. It is thought that she was mentally unstable, and locked herself in the apartment. Police had to break in through the door and brought her to the ambulance to get medical attention. Fortunately, none of the items that flew out the window were heavy, and no innocent bystanders were hurt.
