A trip to a popular volcano in Japan went horribly wrong on Tuesday morning. A sightseeing helicopter with two Taiwanese travelers and a Japanese pilot was reported missing at around 11 in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture. The aircraft had been on a tour of the crater of Mount Aso.

According to a report by Kumamoto Asashi Broadcasting, the wreckage of a helicopter was found later in the day, during an aerial search operation conducted by the Kumamoto Prefectural Police. The identification number on the wreck was confirmed to be the helicopter that lost contact that morning. The fate of the two Taiwanese nationals and the pilot in his 60s remains unknown.
