The National Central University held an international press conference on Wednesday to present nativist writer Huang Chun-ming with a unique honor: an asteroid named after him. The asteroid in question used to be called No. 777018 and was renamed to recognize Huang’s contributions to literature. We’ve named more than 80 so far, almost 100. It’s a big range.The Huang Chun-ming Asteroid was discovered back in 2008 at National Central University’s Lulin Observatory. It has a diameter of 1.69km and takes more than five and a half years to complete one orbit of the Sun. It’s also the fourth asteroid named after a figure in Taiwanese arts and literature.
