The flames erupted at around 2 p.m., sending a plume of thick black smoke into the sky that could be spotted from kilometers away. Fortunately, no staff were trapped in the plant. The Environmental Protection Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire with an artificial intelligence cloud monitoring system. The preliminary hypothesis is that the a heat exchanger may have leaked and triggered the fire by igniting oil that was stored in a tank. Strong winds carried pollutants from the fire northward, causing the air quality to plummet in eight districts including Cianjhen, Siaogangand Fongshan. Im accprdamce with the Air Pollution Control act, the Environmental Protection Bureau could impose a fine of up to NT$5 million. For more Taiwan news, tune in:Mon to Fri at 9:30 pm on Channel 152Tue to Sat at 1 am on Channel 53#fire #refinery #kaohsiung #airpollution #aqi#台灣新聞 #TaiwanNews #民視新聞 #FTV新聞 #Taiwan
