For typical foreclosed properties, the only way to assess the condition of a home is through information provided in the auction notice. However, the Yilan branch of the Administrative Enforcement Agency recently held a rare open-house event, allowing prospective buyers to inspect the property in person. The foreclosed property was once a long-term care center located in downtown Yilan and has been out of use for some time. The 35-year-old building has an area of roughly 260 square meters. It is currently in its second round of auction, with a starting price of NT$12 million—averaging about NT$150,000 per ping or 3.3 square meters. The event attracted more than a dozen groups of visitors.

I feel the current high housing prices are quite reasonable. The living environment here is excellent because we often go to the riverside. The entire riverside trail along the Yilan River is over ten kilometers long, and it’s like our backyard.

With the homeowner’s consent, the public is allowed to enter the house to inspect it firsthand, assess its condition, and then decide whether to participate in the bidding.
Upon taking the elevator, you enter the spacious apartment. The natural light and layout are excellent, and its proximity to Dongmen Night Market and convenient access to transportation and amenities make it a prime location. However, the house is facing foreclosure because the owner owes approximately NT$980,000 in income tax and other outstanding private loans, which led to enforcement proceedings.
