How many people do you think it takes to push a bus? Well, in Taichung, the answer is seven. A group of locals got the chance to test their strength on the city streets, after an electric bus suddenly run out of battery in the middle of an intersection. The driver quickly got off the bus and asked two police officers for help. In the end, another four people who happened to pass by joined the effort and rolled the 12-ton bus to a safe location.

A bus sits bang in the middle of an intersection late at night. Patrol officers arrive, and the driver asks for help.

The e-bus lost power and was left obstructing traffic. Officers got down to work to push it out, and even four passersby joined in, forming a seven-person-strong team.

They found their rhythm and managed to roll the e-bus forward. At more than 12 tons, it’s heavier than a regular bus due to the batteries. But through teamwork and determination, they got it done.

The e-bus had been on its final dispatch of the night when the driver, Mr. Peng noticed the battery level suddenly drop. He stopped to let the last passenger off then tried to return to the depot, but the bus ran out of juice right at the intersection of Liming Road Sec. 2 and Dadun 11th Street.

The bus is huge. Officers at the scene, and some kindhearted citizens teamed up to push it away, step by step, to a safe spot on the side of the road.

Fortunately, with the combined efforts of patrolling officers and kind late-night diners, the bus was removed and the situation was resolved with a heartwarming operation.
