TSMC held its much-anticipated earnings conference for Q1 on Thursday. The company posted revenue of NT$1.13 trillion, and earnings per share hit a record NT$22.08, setting a new single-quarter high. The company says that there are projects underway to expand 2nm production in Hsinchu and Kaohsiung. It also said it will continue to expand its global deployment of 3nm technology. In Taiwan, we are adding a new 3nm fab to our GigaFab cluster in Tainan Science Park. Volume production is scheduled for the first half of 2027. A14 technology and its derivative will further extend our technology leadership position and enable TSMC to capture the growth opportunities well into the future.

High performance computing and artificial intelligence have been a boon for TSMC. Net profit after tax hit NT$572.48 billion in the first quarter, an increase of 13.2% from Q4, and a 58.3% increase from Q1 2025. Gross margin stood at 66.2%. TSMC remains steady in its position as a global leader, a feat made possible in great part thanks to Chairman C.C. Wei. Time magazine has taken notice, featuring him in this year’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
