Ko received a 13 year prison sentence for bribery and granting improper benefits related to the Core Pacific City real estate development case. In addition, he received 2 years for misappropriation of political donations for personal use and another 3 and a half years for issues related to political fundraising. And that’s not all; he was also sentenced to an extra 2 and a half years in prison for embezzling more than NT$8 million from a foundation. The combined sentence totals 17 years behind bars, with deprivation of civil rights for 6 years. After hearing the verdict, Ko walked out of the Taipei District Court with heavy steps. He appeared to have mixed emotions but still showed a smile as he descended the stairs. Before leaving, he waved to supporters and even clenched his fist as a sign to not lose courage, since the case can still be appealed. For more Taiwan news, tune in:Mon to Fri at 9:30 pm on Channel 152Tue to Sat at 1 am on Channel 53#Kowenje #prison #corruption #anticorruption#台灣新聞 #TaiwanNews #民視新聞 #FTV新聞 #Taiwan
