A motorist in Tainan recently went to get their scooter, only to discover that their helmet was infested with a swarm of bees! They contacted a professional bee remover right away. An expert said it’s currently swarming season. The queen bee likely flew into the helmet for shelter, and was followed by her hive. He reminded the public it’s dangerous to disturb the swarm or try to drive them away. It’s best to leave it to the professionals.

When going to get their scooter one evening, a motorist was met with a harrowing scene inside their helmet.

-What should I do?
-The queen is inside.
-I already called 1999.

Fortunately, a professional bee remover came quickly to assist. It turns out that during swarming season, large numbers of bees move with their queen. She might have taken refuge inside the helmet, her swarm in tow.

Commenting on incident
They put their helmet there. Bees have night blindness. They need to sleep at night and can’t see. The helmet was put right here. Not 10 minutes after the queen went inside, the whole hive followed.

The bee remover returned the next day to find there were still a number of bees circling, as the queen’s scent hadn’t yet dissipated. He advised anyone who encounters such a situation that it’s dangerous to drive them away.

Commenting on incident
No matter what, don’t swat at them with your hands. They’ll think you’re attacking, and they’ll try to sting you. Once you’re stung and the pheromones are released, you’ll become a target and you won’t be able to run away.

A queen bee stopped by the roadside to take a rest and her entire hive followed, filling the helmet in a matter of minutes. Don’t be a hero—if this happens to you, leave it to the professionals!
